May Flowers Are Blooming With Colors!

Planning a wedding? Obsessed with flowers? A lover of color? If yes, then you’re in the right place! Whether you’ve had your big day planned in your head for ages or you’re just starting the process, you know how important color themes and floral design are. One of our Lead Designers at A Divine Event, Emily Fleming, sat down with us to talk about flower trends, color schemes, and what she sees couples gravitating towards today. Although Emily has worked in several departments of wedding management, her favorite part of any event is the décor details!

What are your favorite floral trends for Summer 2023?

“I am seeing more and more couples come in with visions of vibrant colors like yellows, blues, and pinks. Plus, I’ve seen a lot of couples enhancing their vision by adding fruit elements in their arrangements. Color and fruit can be such a great and creative way to bring your individuality to an event. Adding oranges, grapefruits, grapes or lemons to a centerpiece is a great way to add color and texture in new and fun ways!”

What current floral or event color palette are you crushing on right now?

“I love warm colors, and right now I’m really loving a combination of orange, bronze, peach, and yellow. These cozy tones bring warmth into any space and transcend seasons, they can be used effortlessly in the spring or summer, or in the fall and winter! Going into spring, think of using peach or yellow linen on a white table for a perfect pop of color. Thinking of fall? Gold or mustard tones of yellow are perfect to match the changing leaves of the season.”

What is an unexpected event design detail that really makes a statement?

“I always encourage couples to brighten up their place settings because guests will spend a substantial amount of time at their tables for dinner, so these elements will enhance your guest’s experience. Adding specialty glassware, a custom charger, or place cards creates a completed and polished look to your tables. For our Boho brides, adding an eclectic mix of colored glass water goblets, a linen napkin, and a Rattan charger to reflect your carefree and creative side. I’ve also seen a lot of fun personalized details on tables lately, like individual potted plants with place cards attached, and teacups with customized name tea bags. Guests absolutely love personalized items because they will re-use that item and think of your big day!”

What is one piece of advice you have for couples that are planning their wedding decor and florals?

“The internet is your best friend! Go on A Divine Event’s Pinterest and start saving your favorite photos from your chosen venue- once you have saved a few you will start to notice recurring elements, providing you with a vision for décor and florals. Do spend on the ceremony décor- you might have a 10 minute ceremony, but 50% of photos are taken with that backdrop, and we all know how important pictures are! Keep in mind where the most of your photos will be taken, and focus on decorating those areas, like the Sweetheart table, your Ceremony, and Cake/Dessert table.”

What is your favorite thing to design and why?

“Bridal Bouquets, because they are such a paramount part of the overall design and big day! I find it extremely rewarding to help brides build their bouquets because it connects the event to them personally and brings their visions to life. Many brides (myself included!) save their bouquets and display them after their big day, and knowing I was able to play even a small role in bringing their vision to life makes my job worth it!”

For the minimalists, we recommend using color to create an ambiance without cluttering the tables. Bright yellows, oranges, and blues will really pop against a bright white table! Photo by Mike Moon Studio
